T-UK Master's Seminar - Scotland 2024

On Saturday 24 February the four Taekwon-Do UK Masters, Master Archer VII, Master Ridley VII, Master Miley VII and Master Crisp VII, travelled up to Scotland to teach a Seminar at the Willie Waddell Sports and Community Centre in Forth, hosted by Mr David Condie VI.

As Mr Condie prepared to introduce the Masters to the students gathered there was the surprise arrival of Master Heath Denholm VII, who everyone was very pleased to see and very grateful that he had given up his time to attend the Seminar and pass on some of his considerable knowledge to the students in attendance.

After the Masters all introduced themselves and welcomed the students to the seminar Master Crisp and Master Miley put them through a fairly vigorous warm up to ensure everyone’s minds and bodies were ready for the session.

There were such a wide variety of grades and ages, with students in attendance from white belt to sixth degree and from 4 years old to much older, it was decided to split the students into 4 groups and have them rotate round to a session with each of the Masters who were each concentrating on a different skill within taekwon-do.

Master Archer & Master Denholm focused on the pattern sets for each group, Master Ridley turned his attention to fundamental movements and step sparring, Master Miley worked on sparring skills and Master Crisp was extolling the importance of stretching as well as working on some really interesting kicking drills in groups on pads.

Every student in attendance was working hard, some grading candidates did have to be reminded not to overdo it!  As I walked around the hall and observed some of the sessions I was particularly pleased to see how happy everyone looked, despite how hard they were all work.  The sessions were challenging and put the students through their paces but in such a fun way I’m sure most of them didn’t even notice how hard they were working until the end!

It's always enjoyable to get to train with different people and there is always something new that can be learned, even for the highest grades in the room.

A huge thanks goes to Mr Condie for hosting the event, the four T-UK Masters for travelling up to teach it, Master Denholm for giving up his time and sharing his knowledge with us and last but not least every student who attended and gave their all, as well as any parents who brought some of our younger students.  Bring on the next one!
